Kentucky ranks 45th in the United States* in 2018 for the number of active criminal human trafficking cases making their way through federal courts. The state had two active criminal cases. Kentucky, like 19 other states and territories, initiated no new criminal human trafficking cases in 2018, ranking the state last in the nation for the number of new cases. In 2018, federal courts did not convict any defendants in criminal human trafficking cases, ranking Kentucky last in the nation, along with seven other states and territories, for the number of defendants convicted.
