About the Author

Scotland Grace Pierce

Scotland Grace Pierce is a third-year law student at Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. She is currently an intern at Legal Aid Chicago for the Children and Families Practice Group, working primarily with victims of domestic violence. While in law school, she served as the President of the Advocates for Public Interest Law and Communications Chair for the Trial Advocacy Executive Board. She spent her 1L summer in Accra, Ghana working as a law clerk for the Ghana Supreme Court. She has also worked as a research assistant, focusing on alternative courts and the disparate negative impact of the juvenile justice system on girls of color. Additionally, she participated in Pepperdine’s Anti-Trafficking Legislation Lab, contributing to a policy brief suggesting mandated human trafficking training for medical professionals in California. With an undergraduate degree in nonprofit management, Scotland hopes to use her legal degree to serve victims of violence and trafficking in Chicago and beyond.
