About the Author

Elizabeth Ranade Janis

Elizabeth Ranade (Rahn-ah-day) Janis is the Director of the US Cities Initiative for Heyrick Research (formerly Praesidium Partners), an organization working to promote intelligence-driven advocacy in the fight against human trafficking. Previously, Elizabeth led the Governor’s Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force as Ohio’s first State Anti-Human Trafficking Coordinator from 2013-2017. In this role, she worked in close partnership with state, local and federal partners to build Ohio’s comprehensive response to sex and labor trafficking.

Additionally, Elizabeth spent five and a half years working for World Vision, managing humanitarian aid programs for those impacted by disasters and crises around the globe, including the World Vision US Haiti earthquake response. Before working in international relief and development, Elizabeth served as a Legislative Aide in the Ohio House of Representatives. Elizabeth holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Development from the Ohio State University. Elizabeth lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and two children.
